ABOUT US
Who We Are
The Center for Psychotherapy Safety is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing psychotherapy safety through evidence-based education and advocacy.
Founded on the belief that patient safety strengthens—rather than threatens—the psychotherapy profession, CPS translates research into practical resources for consumers, clinicians, and policymakers.
Our Triple-Pro Position
CPS takes a unique stance in the field: we are simultaneously pro-psychotherapy, pro-patient, and pro-clinician.
Pro-Psychotherapy
We believe psychotherapy is one of the most important interventions in healthcare. Our work aims to strengthen public trust by demonstrating the profession's commitment to safety and accountability.
Pro-Patient
Patient safety isn't anti-therapist—it's the foundation of effective care. We empower consumers with evidence-based information to make informed decisions about their mental health treatment.
Pro-Clinician
We support clinicians with evidence-based tools and resources, not punitive oversight. Most therapists are dedicated professionals who benefit from better safety infrastructure.
