1. General Disclaimer
The Center for Psychotherapy Safety, Inc. is a nonprofit educational organization (501(c)(3) status pending). All content published by the Center — including website pages, educational resources, and related materials — is for educational and informational purposes only.
Use of Center materials does not create a professional–client, therapeutic, supervisory, or legal relationship between the user and the Center, its staff, its Board of Directors, or its advisory council members.
2. Not Clinical Advice
Center materials are educational resources for professional development and public information. They do not constitute:
- Psychotherapy or counseling
- Clinical supervision
- Diagnosis or treatment recommendations
- A substitute for professional clinical judgment
Clinicians using Center materials remain solely responsible for their own clinical decisions. Consumers should consult a qualified mental health professional for individualized clinical guidance.
3. Not Legal Advice
The Center does not provide legal counsel. Information regarding licensing regulations, complaint processes, liability standards, or regulatory requirements is provided for educational context only and does not constitute legal advice. Users should consult a qualified attorney for legal questions.
4. Not a Complaint or Investigation Body
The Center does not investigate allegations, mediate disputes, or make findings of misconduct against individual therapists. Complaint investigation and adjudication are the responsibility of:
- State licensing boards
- Professional association ethics committees
- Courts of law
If you believe a therapist has acted unethically, contact your state licensing board or a qualified attorney.
5. Not a Crisis Service
The Center for Psychotherapy Safety is not a crisis service, hotline, or emergency provider. If you are in crisis:

6. Evidence Currency
Research findings and evidence summaries reflect the state of the literature at the time of publication. The Center updates materials as new evidence emerges, but users should verify that they are consulting the most current version of any resource. Publication and review dates are displayed on all evidence-based content.
7. Modality Neutrality
The Center does not endorse or condemn any specific psychotherapy modality. Where modality-specific evidence is presented, it reflects the current state of the research literature and is subject to the same evidence-grading standards applied to all Center content. Listing a modality or its associated evidence does not constitute an endorsement or a criticism.
8. Funding Independence
The Center's editorial and scientific content is independent of its funding sources. Donors, grantmakers, sponsors, and commercial partners do not influence the content, conclusions, or recommendations published by the Center. All funding relationships are disclosed per our Conflict of Interest Policy.
9. CE Course Disclaimer
CE courses offered by the Center are designed for professional development and continuing education credit. Completion of a CE course does not guarantee clinical competence, licensure, or immunity from professional complaints. Clinicians are responsible for applying course content within their scope of practice and in accordance with their jurisdiction's regulations.

Opinions expressed by individual contributors, guest authors, blog post authors, or advisory council members represent their own professional views and do not necessarily reflect the official positions of the Center for Psychotherapy Safety, Inc., its Board of Directors, or its staff.

Where individual narratives or personal experiences are featured (e.g., consumer stories, case illustrations), these accounts represent individual perspectives and do not constitute generalizable evidence. The Center reviews personal experience content for sensitivity but does not verify the details of individual accounts. Names and identifying details may be changed to protect privacy.
